Out of interest Dave... when you are targeting bream and brudch do you fish a quiver sat on the rod, or do you fish multiple rods with bobbins and bolt rigs? Just a question... as my bream temptation grows each year. Is there a logical point when anglers cross over from sat-on-the-rod quiver approach to the bobbin and bolt approach? Much to learn.

Three rods, short hooklinks (max four inches) , semi-fixed leads/feeders. But what do I know? I'm trying to catch tench!

I'd say bream x rudd. Possibly roach.

I'd bet my house against it being bream x crucian.

Do shoals of tench keep you as busy as a shoal of bream? When the bream move on to the bait while I'm out roach bashing, then it's hectic enough with one rod! Are multiple rods generally cast to different areas or are they put over one larger area of feed? Naive questions, but shy bairns get no cake.

I've no idea what it's like when a shoal of tench moves in. Cry

I tend to fish two baits on a bed of feed and one somewhere else - either over a smaller bed of bait, or just using a feeder, or cast at random and moved often. But a lot depends on the swim.

That is when the bottom just slopes away gradually with no notable features. Obviously if fishing to a feature the approach would be different.

I'll settle for it being a brudd. That was my initial thought too.

I'd say brudd, what did it weight? And did it scrap more than a bin-lid?

4lb 13oz - a bin lid would have fought harder...

I dunno, Broach or Brudd? As you said earlier Dave Brudch maybe. Still think it's a nice looking fish, but thought it would have fought a bit more with Roach or Rudd ancestry.

Crucian or maybe even brown goldfish. I would guess a carp strain due to the roundness of the fins.
