Don't use the new 2500/4000 b/runners, but i had a play with em in my local shop. they feel a decent reel. thinking of getting the 2500 for chub/barbel work. i noticed these on ebay 2 wks ago new 99p no reserve etc. might be worth a bid if you look at em 1st etc. think the 2500 was about £50 in the shop..

I use Okuma 35's for my Barbelling and have found them to be really good. However I was looking at the new Korum reels this weekend and gotta say that they look the buisness.

A friend of mine has two of the new 4000 series - he hasn't been too impressed by them so far - poor build quality - much like most of Shimano's latest I'm afraid to say. I've got three GTE-C 5000 that I use for my close range fishing on rivers and drains for pike/zander/carp. From what I know they also make superb reels for Barbel. I'm very happy with them... in fact, they are excellent. I only paid £55 each for them - discontinued you see - get in while there's a bargain to be had!
