Prebait for chub

Over the close season I've seen a few decent chub in one particular stretch of river. I was thinking about getting some prebait in ready for the start of the season but the problem is I can only get to the river once a week.
Is there any point prebaiting once a week or is it a waste of time, efffort and money?
All opinions gratefully received.

I would personally say that it would be pointless once a week.
Nearly every man and his dog goes on sunday morning and bait is slung in with gay abandon, you could argue that this bait is 'prebait', but theyre not crawling up the rods on a sunday morning.
As an aside you could possibly get them used to a particular bait, a certain flavoured boilie for example, that would give you an edge over the more standard baits (other peoples), but i cant help feeling youve left it a bit too late for the start of the season.

It may be too late to start a full on baiting campaign before the 'off' but it may well be worth giving the area a one off 'big' hit of bait a couple of days before your first session.

Let nature pre bait for you, I have done it in areas where you are unlikely to upset 'joe public' but a bunny obviously dead and hung in a tree over the river will bait a run for days with Maggotts

I probably won't bother then. Quite like the big hit idea though.
The bunny thing probably wouldn't go down to well on this bit of river that runs right through the centre of town

The rabbit idea is a belter but like you say not in a town centre! Go for the big hit then, but if you do don't mess about with a few handfuls, GIVE it to them!
