Actually, slightly more bizarrely, I don't know why everybody is getting so worried and thinking that convictions will have to be quashed. While the mistake was made the provisions in the Act which repeal section 19 of the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries Act don't appear to come into force until 1 January 2011. (The Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 (Commencement No.2 and Transitional Provisions) Order 2010).

So there has never been a time from what I can see where there was no offence for fishing in the close season and neither will there be. Just goes to show how rubbish the AT with their "Fish Legal" department are. It took me 15 minutes to check this out.
